Silver Bullion - FAQ
Frequently asked questions (FAQ) about silver, especially silver ownership, along with
their answers are listed on this page:
+ What is the troy weighting system?
The troy weighting system was originally used in Troyes in France to measure the weight of precious metals such as gold and silver. The troy ounce (t oz / ozt) is the only measure of the troy weighting system that is still in use today.
+ What are the differences between legal tender and non-legal tender silver coins?
Legal tender silver coins, coins that have a face value, must be accepted as a form of payment for debt. The same is not true for non-legal tender silver coins. E.g. a silver round has no face value and is not legal tender.
In addition to the above, legal tender silver coins are government minted and issued silver coins while non-legal tender silver coins are privately minted and issued silver coins.
+ How many grams are in a troy ounce?
1 troy ounce (t oz / ozt) = 31.1034768 grams
