Here is a list of the known coin grading systems that are or have been used at
some stage of history to grade coins in terms of quality:
- Early Grading Systems
The early grading systems that were used to grade coins in terms of quality were much more simplistic in nature than the coin grading systems used today.
- The Sheldon Grading System
The Sheldon Grading System or the Sheldon Scale, which runs from 0 to 70, is the brainchild of renowned numismatic Dr. William Herbert Sheldon.
- European Grading System
The European Grading System refers to more or less equivalent, but different coin grading systems used in European countries such as the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Scandinavia, the Netherlands and Portugal.
