Description: The Chinese Silver Panda, a 1 oz silver bullion coin consisting of
1 troy ounce of silver with a silver purity of 99.9% and a face value
of 10 Yuan, features the “Temple of Heaven” on the obverse and the image of a panda on the reverse. It is the
official silver bullion coin of China (the People’s
Republic of China) and was first issued in 1983. The first series of Chines Silver Pandas (1983-1985) had a
silver purity of 90% (1983 and 1985) and 92.5% (1984) respectively. It was also smaller in diameter (38.6 mm) in
comparison to the diameter of 40 mm and silver purity of 99.9% since 1987. There are several mints in China that
mint and issue the Chinese Silver Panda, which include, but is not limited to the following mints: Shenzhen,
Shanghai and Shenyang.
