Silver Bullion - Australian Silver
Kookaburra
Description:
The Australian Silver
Kookaburra, a 1 oz silver bullion coin consisting of
1 troy ounce of silver with a silver purity of 99.9% and a face value
of 1 Australian Dollar, features Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse and the image of a native Australian bird,
the Kookaburra, on the reverse. It is the official silver bullion coin of Australia and was first
minted and issued in 1983 by the Perth Mint. What makes the Australian Silver Kookaburra truly unique is the
fact that it is one of only a few major silver bullion coins of which the design is changed annually. E.g. the
Australian Silver Kookaburra of 2007 features a Kookaburra sitting on a branch which is partly sunken in water
while the 2011 issue features a Kookaburra which is sitting on a tree stump of some
sort.
