“Ancient Canada” series begins with Ornithomimus
For many years, people have seen wild, bird-like dinosaurs portrayed in various movies and shows. Oftentimes, these cinematic portrayals were based on the Ornithomimus. Believed to resemble a modern-day ostrich, these now-extinct animals lived during the late Cretaceous period and fed on a variety of things such as plants, seeds and animals.
The RCM is proud to begin a new series with ancient roots with the introduction of their Antiqued Silver Ornithomimus coin! A truly unique release, each .9999 fine silver coin has been Splash Struck, a process similar to the minting technique used in ancient Roman times. Because coins within this brand-new series do not have a rim, while being minted, each coin was allowed to spill over when struck resulting in every coin having a unique shape.
With a limited mintage of just 5,500 coins, collectors can choose from GEM BU coins complete with original Mint Packaging and releases that have been certified by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation to be in MS69 and MS70 condition with the Early Releases designation and paired with the MCM exclusive Canada Label!
